Capitals center Evgeny Kuznetsov, Canadiens defenseman Andrei Markov and Kings goaltender Jonathan Quick have been named the NHL’s “Three Stars” for the week ending Oct. 25.

FIRST STAR – EVGENY KUZNETSOV, C, CAPITALS

Kuznetsov paced the NHL with six assists and nine points – and also shared the League lead with a +5 rating – as the Capitals (6-1-0, 12 points) won all three of their games. He began the week with three assists, matching a career high, in a 6-2 victory over the Flames Oct. 20.

Markov shared first among defensemen with 1-5—6 as the Canadiens (9-0-0, 18 points) won all three of their contests to extend the franchise’s best start in its 98-year NHL history.

THIRD STAR – JONATHAN QUICK, G, KINGS

Quick posted a 2-0-0 record with a 1.00 goals-against average, .971 save percentage and one shutout as the Kings (5-3-0, 10 points) extended their winning streak to five games.

Alex Ovechkin Records 900th NHL Point

Oct 26, 2015 12:49 PM

Nicklas Backstrom scored twice and Alex Ovechkin added a goal and an assist as the Capitals beat the Flames 6-2 on Tuesday night.

Ovechkin gave the Capitals the lead for good 30 seconds into the second period. His long shot was stopped by Flames goalie Karri Ramo, but mishandled, allowing the Washington captain to poke in the rebound and put Washington ahead 2-1. It was Ovechkin's fourth goal of the season and 900th career point.

Steven Stamkos Scores 500th Career Point

Oct 18, 2015 1:22 AM

The TD Garden in Boston has not been a kind place to play for Lightning star Steven Stamkos.

Not only did he and the Lightning lose Game 7 of the Eastern Conference finals against the Bruins in 2011, but Stamkos also had his career slightly altered when he broke his right leg here on Nov. 12, 2013

Stamkos tweaked those misfortunes during Monday's win over the Bruins by recording his 500th career NHL point.
